Join us for a 4-part series of trainings on nonviolent direct action (NVDA).
All trainings will take place in person, and were developed by experienced trainers from organizations who are part of the 350 Network Council (which SanDiego350 belongs to) with the goal of grounding us in shared principles and empowering us to take bolder and more strategic action.
Each two-hour training includes a video (with CART closed captioning), slides, resources, and interactive activities. You may sign up for all four trainings, or just one or two (note – you need to sign up for each training individually, links to all four are below).
We will cover the following topics:
Part 1: The History and Purpose of Nonviolent Direct Action: Examples of impactful, strategic, and creative nonviolent direct actions and exploring what makes them powerful. By 350Vermont.
Part 2: NVDA Tactics and Action Roles: How effective direct actions are planned and executed and specific roles needed to make them run smoothly. By 350 Massachusetts.
Part 3: Forming Affinity Groups and Staying Safe: Why affinity groups are effective, how they’re built, and fostering a culture of trust, consent, safety and care. By 350 Colorado.
Part 4: Intro to Security Culture: Secure information sharing that protects action planners and participants. By 350 Seattle.
Training Location: All trainings will take place at SanDiego350's office at University Christian Church in Hillcrest. Park on the street or in the church parking spots on the alley off Richmond Ave. Use the gate from the alley, come to Suite A. The office has good airflow, and masks are required.
